HAIR 911

If you follow me on Instagram , you know that I have been having a few health issues that are associated with my anxiety. One of them is the constant struggle with my hair...falling and breaking. So a few weeks ago I shared that on my Instagram stories and had a lot of recommendations. From cinnamon hair product to olive oil masks to collagen and supplements, you guys shared and here is what I did:

 > Hot to cold shower: One advice I got and did some research on was the hot water to cold water shower. I am the queen of steaming hot showers and after researching I realized that was a big mistake, not just for my hair but my skin as well. Here's the 411 directly from google:

While warm water opens a hair’s cuticle to allow shampoo and conditioner to do their job, cold water helps to close the cuticle and seal in moisture from the conditioner — which helps your hair look shiny and healthy. So, by all means, take a warm shower, but at the end, rinse with cold water.

> Supplements & Collagen: While I was already taking a natural supplement for my hair, I realized through research that nothing is as good as Biotin and Collagen. So I switched my supplement and went to GNC and bought a tasteless collagen powder that I now add to my shakes. ( I take a shake once daily)

> Shampoo and Conditioner: I recently had switched to Pantene as someone suggested it for hair dullness, but I never realized how many people actually complained about their hair falling out. Yikes! So once I read that, I decided to do some research and found a company called Hairfinity who offers sulfate-free Gentle Cleanse shampoo that improves hair breakage by 82% and a Balanced Moisture conditioner that improves breakage by 87% and helps the hair's natural moisture through vitamins and botanicals. With claims like that.... I just had to try it out.

The first time I used it, I was already hooked. While shampooing, my hair didn't stiffen up and even after lathering, I could still run my fingers through, even without conditioner. When I applied the conditioner, my hair was soft but didn't feel oily or heavy. It was light to the touch and as I ran my fingers through, it didn't pull my hair from the scalp in order to fully detangle.

It's been about 2 weeks now and I am truly hooked. The best part is that they are not over-priced and they arrive pretty fast, so reordering will def be a breeze.

For now these were the simple changes and the hardest still seems to be the one that I know will make the most difference.... sleep and controlling my anxiety. While sleep is my problem as I am a true night-owl ( for instance, it is currently 12:05 a.m. as I am typing!!!), I am glad to report that as I continue to invest in my health and over-all well being by removing certain toxicity from my life, my anxiety is currently under control.

with much love,

Nat.
